NX 12 | working in an assembly but with an individual work part

So we just did a massive upgrade (if you'll call it that) from NX8.5 to NX 12. There must be a setting which I can't find but my problem is this... I have an assembly open with many parts in it. I make a component the work part. I edit a sketch or even create a new sketch in that part, all the dimensions I create are locked in place and I can't drag them. I can open that part in a new window and all of a sudden the dimensions can be drug around. Go back into the assembly, work with the component as the work part and the dims are locked. Is there a setting to make it so the dimensions can be moved around? Thanks!

That seems like a bug to me. I suggest to report it at GTac (could not find an existing IR)
Which version of NX12 are you using? NX12, 12.0.1 or 12.0.2?
