NX 1953 exporting a step model

Our company just upgraded from NX10 to NX1953. In NX1953 we cannot export a step file or an igs file. We have the license but when we export from NX1953 the CMD screen flashes a blank screen then goes away. It does not produce a step file or the log file that it is supposed to produce. We purchased the upgraded step 242 license and still cannot export step 203, 214 and even 242. They all flash the Blank CMD screen but export nothing. Siemens has not been able to figure it out as of yet. Has anyone come across this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

Have you tried the stand alone translators outside of a NX session?

I had similar problem exporting JT.
-nothing happened after I pressed OK on the NX1953 export JT dialog.
It turned out that I had a variable telling my NX1953 to fetch the defaults from the file "tessUG.config" which did not exist in the folder that the variable stated.
No error messages neither on screen nor in the logfile.
As soon as that file existed in the given directory, NX exported the JT files.

The origin of this problem as that I copied my "UGII_ENV_FILE" from NX12 and made it into NX1953 but I had not , at the time, checked all the variables.
