Hi,

is there a specific workflow for exporting large assemblies in VRML format? I've tried using both VRML 1.0 and 2.0 but only get some parts through.

Thanks!

WOW!!!

I think this is the first VRML question that I've heard anyone ask in at least 10 years or so.

Anyway, I opened an assembly with 148 components and performed an Export using the VRML 2.0 formate. I was then able to open it in the only VRML viewer that I have on my system, FreeWRL Launcher (version 1.22.12). It seemed to open OK.

However, I was not able to open a VRML 1.0 formatted file.

Note that this testing was done using both NX 7.5.5.4 and NX 8.0.1.5.

So as far as I can tell, at least up to around 150 components the 2.0 option works. Perhaps you should follow-up with GTAC and see if they can help you.

Yeah, VRML gives you just one nice control parameter to make the assembly really light weight and coarse. But it takes your mindset back to the 90's, doesn't it ;)

I think this might be NX 6.0 issue. I tried changing reference sets etc but none of that worked.

Thanks for trying out this situation.

Just to clarify: I went with STL export and that worked Ok.

I can assure you that we have several orders of magnitude more customers exporting .stl files on a day by day basis than we do exporting .wrl files ;-)
