NX 6 Computer Aided Self Teach (CAST) and help files 1

Hi

I'm new to UG and have NX 6 on my work station. Would like to use the Computer Aided Self Teach (CAST). When I click the training tab in the help menu I get help error msg 'could not start CAST. please check the UGII_CAST environment setting'. Also the help file(s) are missing. I get the Help error msg 'unable to display help information. Application context not found' Anyone have any ideas please.

Hi Stuart,
Do you have NX CAST and NX Documentation installed on your system (these will not get automatically installed along with the NX software installation by default so you need to install these seperately)? Also check for NXCAST folder on your system.

We can't locate the necessary files (NX CAST and NX Documentation). Should they be on the installation disc(s)? If not where would I find them please?

Hi Stuart,
Incase you have a webkey access to our support site then you can download both of them from there.In case you don't please ask your local Siemens representative for the same (i suppose you must have got the NX installation media from the representative.)

Hi Stuart,
btw if i am not wrong then i guess the CAST installation should reside on the NX installation media itself.Do check the dvd once more.You will get an option to install cast in the first pop-up window itself (alongwith NX ,license server installation)

Once again thank you for your help.
The first screen options for NX6 software installation are:
View documentation
Install license server
Install NX
Get composite host id
exit
.......no CAST and no mention of it in the Install guide. I'm not having alot of luck with our IT dept either

Hi Stuart,
In that case i will recommend that you get access to the support site then (using webkey access).This will be a one time task (ask your IT colleague to help you out) but then you can download all these yourself.
Apart from this then you may be able to join some good user forums too (and can raise queries on these).

Cast is a separate DVD and not included on the NX install disk.
Cast is a licensed product. If you don't have the DVD chances are you need to purchase it.
The Documentation is also a separate DVD but included with NX.

Please note that CAST is being phased out and is being replaced by something known as 'Learning Advantage'. Customers with current up-to-date CAST licenses will be able to move them to 'Learning Advantage' licenses (these customers should have already received details about this change and an outline of their options going forward).
