NX 6 Remove Face Blend Edge Lines

Hi,

I have been trying how to figure out a quick way to remove edge lines from face and edge blends but so far have been unsuccessful. This happens for all parts, I will upload pictures shortly hopefully explaining it better.

But basically, after a face/edge blend there are edge lines at the both ends of the created fillet. I am trying to find a setting or method that will instead create a blend without creating these edge curves at both ends of the fillet. So instead of having three faces(for example face chain 1 & 2 and fillet face), I want to only have one smooth face containing all three.

I have been able to accomplish this by using through curve mesh and recreating the surface and solid after the blend is created. However, the part I am working on is rather compicated and creating a new surface takes too much time and can affect the accuracy of the analysis. So I am hoping for an easier method.

If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The blend commands create new faces. There is no option to change this behavior and create a single merged face while adding a blend.

What type of analysis are you doing and how does having multiple faces affect the result?

If it is just a visual thing that you don't like, you can change your shading preferences from "shaded with edges" to "shaded". Now the face edges won't be visible; but there will still be 3 faces, not 1.

You hit the nail on the head when you said that "...creating a new surface takes too much time and can affect the accuracy of the analysis..." which is exactly why when adding blends to a model, the system creates the simplest faces possible as they will also most accurately represent the actual geometry of the final model, and if it takes multiple, albeit simple, faces to assure that level of accuracy, then that's what NX does. That's just the way 'Blending' works, period.

Hi,
To my knowledge it is not possible to merge these faces OOTB (not talking about the Visualization point of view solution which Cowski has already explained in his post).
But even if you try to do so ...if i consider two flat surfaces and a blend between them . From a 2-D perspective (two lines joined by a round fillet)consider creating a single spline matching the two lines joint by a radius. You will need numerous spline points to create a single spline overlapping the two lines and the fillet.
This will only make the resulting surface "heavier" and will ultimately bog down the performance. A known comparsion case between Nurbs and Bezier.
