NX 6 Technical Help: Got a new job that uses NX 6

I've been using CAD for a while and used NX in school but I want to improve my knowledge before I start working with it. So to all you pro people out there I want to know some technical things:

1. Hotkeys: how do I make new hotkeys/ macros, do you have any personalized ones that you like. I've found lists of standard ones online and they help but the last CAD program I had used at least half the keyboard so I wouldn't mind adding to that list. I know there's some way in SolidWorks to do macros called API so is there anything like that in NX.

2. Once I make these will they transfer over with my new personalized user setting. I'm not sure that's what it's called but you know you can change how many buttons you see by going from standard user to advanced user.

3. Are there any tutorials, or videos that you think are very good at teaching sheet metal. I know I can look this up online but if you know of any pass that along.

You assign/edit 'hotkeys' from the Customize dialog after selecting the 'Keyboard...' option at the bottom of the dialog. Note the button labeled 'Report' where you can get full list of all of the 'hotkeys' in current use with your copy of NX.

After any sort of change to the user interface, including the editing and assignment of 'hotkeys', you should create and save your own Role, which can then take with you if you move to work on another system.

That should get you started.

Thanks. For future reference to anyone who reads this post the customize dialog box is found in Tools>Customize about half way down the list.

Or you can right click nearly anywhere in the toolbar/menu area and choose "customize".

I'm having a real hard time using add existing curves in that I can't pick a curve anywhere not in a solid feature, old sketch or current sketch. I think that this feature would be really handy for solids.

Please keep in mind that you're using an obsolete version of NX which is SIX versions behind in terms of what it can do.

Hi,

Add existing curve still exist also in NX10.

You can only select unparametrized curves

We use it when you import curve from another CAD Software with DXF for example, then you can add it into a sketch.
