Is there a setting which controls the hide/show behavior in the ANT tool?
I have noticed that I can have a child part shown while a couple of levels of parent parts containing the child are hidden. Is there a setting that would have everything in a hidden parent hidden also?

Thank you.

There is no setting since this is working exactly as it was intended to work. When you Hide a subassembly ALL of its child Components are automatically Hidden, which is what is expected. However, you are NOW allowed to explicitly OVERRIDE the display status on any of the child Components, again this is exactly as one would expect the system to behave. It's the same issue as when someone wishes to Hide a child of a subassembly, just because the parent Assembly is Shown does NOT mean that the user can't hide one of its children.

To somehow 'lock out' the display behavior of lower level Components based on the display status of a parent would be very confusing and difficult to manage to say nothing of then having to convey this status to the user so that he knows exactly why he's not allowed to change the status of an individual Component simply because of the status of a parent. And while one might argue that in the case of a Hidden subassembly this won't be all that hard to grasp, what happens when someone tries to Hide a child of a parent that has been locked in Show mode (after all, if we do it for a Hide status why would we not do it for a Show status of a parent as well).

I think you will find that the way it works now is not only logical but easy to use. If you wish to return a subassembly to a consistent all Hidden or all Shown status, it's a simple task of selecting the parent and cycling the Hide/Show status which will automatically be applied to all the children.
