Going backwards to NX 7.5....
Can't remember how to turn off the sliding clip thingy that slides back and forth at the top below the taskbars.
Can that be turned off in 7.5? I think I could do it in NX 8 and 10. Not sure about 7.5.
If anyone know how to disable or turn it off, that would be great.
Anytime I try to slide it or I drag a toolbar over it, NX just locks up and quits.

Help !

If you go : Preferences - User interface - Layout, make sure that dim resource bar and enable transparency is off, i have seen cases in the past where the transparency / dimming caused problems.
I doubt that the "dialog rail" can be turned off.

What graphics card are you running ?
Is it certified ?
Are you running a certified driver ?

I don't have NX 7.5 available but in NX8.0 under the customer defaults - gateway - user interface - you can turn off the dialog rail.

I can confirm that this option exists in NX 7.5 (customer defaults gateway -> user interface -> layout -> use dialog rail (windows only)). After changing the option, you will need to restart NX for the change to take effect.

Cowski and John, i bow to this knowledge . :)

But, in this case i would rather have a look at the graphics card/ driver since no other user I have heard of has this very special problem with the dialog rail.

I agree that finding the root cause would be a good idea. While graphics cards & drivers are a common cause of problems, there are other things to check as well. If you are a Windows user, NX 7.5 is only certified for Win 7; using a different version (XP, or Win 10) may be an issue. Also, the NX environment can be a source of issues. If you have multiple versions of NX installed on your machine, the newer versions may interfere with the settings of the older versions. Having batch files or some other automated way of setting up the environment for each specific version of NX is a good idea.

Thank you all for the first rate responses.
I found this setting, indeed this setting is there.
However, my system admin does not permit me to alter the customer defaults, therefore, I am screwed.
But, indeed, this will turn off the rail.

In the customer defaults dialog, make sure that the "defaults level" is set to user. You may be able to change the setting for your personal preferences. It is possible that the admin locked the setting at the site level, but there would be no really good reason to do so (at least not for this particular preference). Usually the type of settings that get locked at the site level are options like drafting preferences (things that you need to be consistent from user to user).

Go tell your system admin that three groovy dudes on the interweb say's its ok to disable the dialog rail,
He'll understand. :)

( and note Cowskis last post
and report back on the graphics card / driver.)

Tomas
