NX 7.5 TitleBlock Format incorrectly

Hello,

I am using NX 7.5.3 Windows XP Pro, and I am having some trouble with the Title block formating.

We recently changed names, and part of the name change was a font change. We had to use Arial a TrueType font. I successfully used FontFactory to create a font and save it into NX's Font file. Then I edited the format in our template file.

When we make a print, we have a blank sheet, then import a part file (our template file with the titleblock). However now when I import this file, the text that I changed comes in at a different font then I specified in the template file.

Additionally, when I am making notes I can have one of the new truetype fonts listed and when I type it is the wrong font. I have to highlight the text and then reselect the desired font.

How do I correct this?

Thank you,

Fonts are assigned by font number, not name. So they have to be consistent in all of your part files. You can set this up at...

Customer Defaults -> Drafting -> General -> Lettering Fonts

...where you can predefine the numbering scheme for fonts. Otherwise they get assigned as they are used for the first time in a part file. Note that this Customer Default setting applies to new part files only.

John,

I tried that solution. I have the new TrueType fonts listed in the same order as the first five fonts in the Lettering Font preferences. However, when I import the part for the title block and I check the formating it say <F27> which I am guessing is Font 27. Then I delete out the <F27> modifier and the font is correct.

Is there another way to change the font number or is there something I am missing to make this work?

Thank you

John,

If I go into modeling File -> Utilities -> Character Fonts and I add many other fonts until the New true type font is listed as Font #27 the title block imports correctly.

Unfortunately, as soon as I exit the file, this all resets. How do I fix this?

You may need to update your template/title block to delete or update the font modifier (the <F27> tags).

Thanks Cowski, that did it.

Thanks to both of you for your time.

Will I have to follow this same process on the other title blocks? I will now have to go through and modify the other paper sizes for appropriate block.

Thanks,

Note that we are fixing many of these font name anomalies in the next version of NX and the fixes will also be back-ported to the next maintenance release of NX 7.5 as well, but that's as far back as we're going.
