I've seen several references in threads to NX 7.5. So, why 7.5 and not 7.0, as previous releases ?

I'm just curios as to why it's referred to in threads here and the BBS as 7.5

When I saw the NX 7.5 reference I took it to mean that the functionality being discussed wouldn't make it into the initial 7.0 release but would come sometime before the 8.0 release.

Those of us who are aware of the release planning at Siemens PLM are trying to be candid in our responses while also not making inappropriate commitments since these releases, and their schedules, have not been officially announced. That being said, for planning purposes one can assume that there will be an NX 7.0 release which will fall about where one would expect it to be based on the timing of recent past releases. However, sometime after that, but somewhat before where one would be expecting NX 8.0, there will be another major release which will be designated as NX 7.5. Now there are several reasons why this release will not carry the NX 8.0 label, but there are also reasons why it will NOT be delivered as a maintenance release of NX 7.0 (hence the non-zero as the second numeral). Now this will also mean that files saved in NX 7.5 will not be compatible with NX 7.0, so in some ways it will feel like an NX 8.0 release, but officially it's not. BTW, this was done once before back when we released Unigraphics V11.0 and V11.1. This time we decided to use the '7.5' designation to make it less confusing as to what was happening.

Anyway, I hope I haven't confused you all too much. Please bear with us as we move toward both the NX 7.0 and NX 7.5 releases. Also, anyone who's planning on attending the Siemens PLM Connection America 2009 in Nashville this coming June, you will get a full update as well as demos of not only NX 7.0 but hopefully much of what is planned for NX 7.5.
