[NX 8.5] Creating CYS at the Centroid

Hello,

I'm using the measure body analysis tool to determine where the centroid is relative to the absolute origin. I want to mark the centroid with a coordinate system so that I can use it in CAE analysis down the road. Does anyone have a trick for this besides manually inputting the datum CYS?

Thank in advance

In the measure body dialog, change the results display annotation type to "create principle axes". This will create a csys at the COG.

Do you need an actual Datum CSYS or will just a simple CSYS object be enough? Also, does it need to be associative? If you only need a non-associative CSYS, when you're doing the Measure Bodies, in the section of the dialog labeled 'Results Display' set the 'Annotation' option to 'Create Principal Axes' and when you hit OK, in addition to the Associative 'Point' object being created at the centroid, there will also be a CSYS object created with it's axis aligned with the principle moments. Now if you need an actual Datum CSYS, you can create one by using the 'Offset CSYS' mode and for 'Reference' use the 'Selected CSYS' option just not entering any offset distances after selecting the CSYS object. Now, as I've alluded, while the 'Centroid Point' is associative, the CSYS is not, but at least it's there and aligned with the principle moments.

Thank you very much, this is exactly the "trick" I was looking for. Right in front of me the whole time.
