When using sheet zone grid, should the grid be limited to only the sheet size or is it supposed to be infinite and just the size of the grid spacing match the sheet grid size? The reason I ask is because in the documentation it appears to end at the end of the sheet

I'm not sure what your issue is here. Since you can't place a view OFF the Drawing sheet, there's NO reason for you to expect that that the grid/zone will extend beyond the edges of the sheet. Therefore the documention is simply describing the expected behavior.

I was going through the steps to perform the boarders/zones and there was a section on displaying the grid to the sheet sheet size. It's a cool feature , but I noticed that if I zoomed out of the drawing sheet just a little, the grid grew to an infinite size beyond the sheet. To be honest I never had the need to display the grid, only to snap to it, so I wasn't sure of its behavior. For some reason I thought the grid would end at the sheet boarder since it was all about zones and boarders.

Despite what you may see when displaying the optional Drawing grid, based on the zones, they are only effective INSIDE the confines of the Drawing boarder.

I can see how the view zones would only work inside of the sheet. On a second look its actually nice that the grid itself goes outside of the sheet boundary. I have used the area outside of the sheet to place user notes on the drawing... so that users could see them on the monitor but wouldn't appear when plotted. It's nice to know that you can snap those types of notes to the grid.

I have also noticed that when copying tabular notes in NX 8 that the background color turns to gray and won't go back to the default background color unless you window in between parts. Any settings to change this behavior?

Main menu bar --> Window and selecting a different part. When the other part opens the background color changes back to default and will stay the default color when I window back into the original part file.

I tried jiggling the handle... by toggling back in forth between modeling and drafting but the background color stayed gray until I went to a different part file.

I suspect that you may be having some issues with your display driver. Have you checked recently to see if you're using the latest Siemens PLM certified driver?
