Sorry, I thought this was asked and answered. It may be that there was a recent post by another user wanting similar advice.

When working with teamcenter you can access levels of training in how to use that package which of itself administers the PLM aspect of the system. Since you did not earlier mention that I will have to assume that you're referring only to native NX.

In short it is possible to install your CAD system or have it installed for you as with any other software, such that only the system administrator or other higher privileged users have the capacity to change certain aspects. In fact I believe you need to be logged into Windows as an administrator in order for the install to run. This however is all about Windows or other O/S administration. Not something that relates to settings specific to NX of an by itself and thus you would look beyond NX for knowledge of those aspect of system administration. Many manage without too much additional training in that area, but regardless of that I just wanted to point out that PLMS would not likely include that training in their schedule of courses.

Now what you can set up in NX is called system customization and set up in the customer defaults, ugii_env.dat, some template part files, toolbars, saved roles and other areas some designed to be set up by the users and others used to set up site specific standards. Most of it is a one off task documented in the manuals, but without any overview of the typical range of tasks one might elect to undertake if they knew how and where to go.

There have been mountains of information exchanged via this forum alone on the subject and it is one of the most common types of query that is posted. The forum can be searched when you hit upon a specific area where you either need advice or just get stuck.

Failing that rather than a training course your local PLMS support organization may be able to supply some consultancy services for the initial installation. Probably too late now but many first time customers bargain for this as part of their purchase arrangements if the seller is willing. It never hurts to ask.

Many people succeed in making their own way without external help. Perhaps if you looked at the system out of the box and listed the things that you want to change then you could target you searches and posts here to areas you need to change providing some ability for us to respond to specifics.

Best Regards

Hudson
