Hi

I know from earlier nx versions that the Clearanceplane(auto) from MCS, was not inherited into Point to Point operations ,
but is it true that this behavior ,still not is enhanced ??

Just checked this and in NX8.5 the Clearance Plane specified in the MCS does come through into the Point-to-Point op.

Sorry should have said - only if you actuall specify a plane, not if you use the automatic option.

Is this working as designed? Hard to say......what is Siemens-speak for "Automatic"......

An untrained, disinterested programmer would assume (correctly or incorrectly?) that the "Automatic" option would go to the GEOMETRY and get it it from the MCS.........but, oh well.......that's just me, and I use NX7.5.

[green]To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?[/green]

Hmmmmm, just wondering.

Are there different degrees of "Automatic" in the world of Siemens?? Do they change between software releases??

I tried it in 851 and it doesn't do automatic planes. It would be nice but it was decided long ago that point to point drilling's days were numbered and will soon go the way of the dinosaurs and rough to depth. (if you're old enough to remember that operation type, lol) There will be no enhancements and no fixes unless they totally break something. At some point it will disappear altogether and point to point users will use knowledge hole making/manual hole making.

If you are on maintenance I recommend taking a look in the Siemens forums-Public Forums-NX for Manufacturing Webinars. There were a couple of of them that covered hole making although the last one might not be available to view quite yet. I haven't done much NX drilling but I really liked what I saw pertaining to the new operations. As for the rest of the webinar videos, there are many more that are informative and I recommend taking a look at them when you have a chance.

I hope this helps and have a great weekend.
