Hello,
I am having issues simulating the motion of a concealed door hinge similar to the design shown in this video: [URL unfurl="true"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWq0cnwjOfM[/url].
I have the four linkages modeled and assembled on my computer. When I use the "Move Component" command in assembly mode the hinge can travel the full 180 degrees as designed.
However, when I switch to the Motion Simulation mode I cannot seem to replicate the motion.
The main issue appears to be coming from the pinned joint connecting the middle of both "C Links". Although I have that joint modeled as a revolute joint, when I run and playback the animation that joint seems to "break" so that the axes of the holes are no longer aligned (but no error ever pops up saying it cannot solve the solution). The driven joint in this case is one of the sliders on the fixed part(I have tried driving other joints as well).
I have also tried other joints on the middle pin including adding an additional pin part and using a 3D contact approach, but nothing seems to work. It either fails to solve, or if it does solve the middle pin "breaks" and does not show the correct motion.
What am I doing wrong? Is it the way I am defining the revolute joints?
Also, how can the solution seem to be solved when in actuality the revolute joint constraints are not being satisfied?
