Hi All,

Any reason why we get the Attempt to save bad pointer error when attempting to save a file? Checked on the new solution center of Siemens.. Its so bad, nothing comes up related to the keyword search .

Try the Part Cleanup utility. This usually helps when we encounter this.

Hi Ron,

We tried that and also Edit > Feature > Replay .. Didnt work.. Tried to search for any solutions on the Siemens solutions website.. Cant get anything I search for there. Its horrible website..

"Attempt to save bad pointer" is a very generic error that (broadly) means that something went very wrong during the creation of some model object in NX. If you are getting this error on a freshly opened unmodified part, and the part cleanup doesn't help, then the part's probably screwed up. You can try deleting features one by one and attempting to save it, but the error may be so bad that it corrupts the session, in which case you'd have to restart NX after each try.

NXOpen plugins that modify the model in some way may cause this due to errors in their code. Your best bet here would be contacting the plugin developer.

If it happens after you add some feature to the model yourself, then it is a clear case for GTAC.

The NX Log file may contain the actual NX function that causes the internal exception leading to this, helping you localize the problem.
