We just upgraded to NX3.

Has anyone else attempted to apply a variable edge blend in NX3?

Is it me or did they completely destroy what was a very handy, easy to use, powerful function in NX2?

I'm attempting to apply a variable edge blend around the edges of a small medical part that's shaped like a "V". It needs to go from .005 at the bottom of the "V" to .05 on the outside edges and back down to .005 as it goes up and around and along the inside edges.

Anyone have any helpful hints?? I've applied a variable blend about a million times in the past, so I understand what needs to be done. I'm sure the functionality is still there somewhere. It seems that they added many layers of complexity in NX3 for no apparent reason.

I've already saved the part in NX3 (big mistake), so I can't go back and put it on in NX2.

Tech support had trouble applying the blend over the phone, but then got back to me with a cryptic email which so far hasn't helped much.

Thanks
PP

My best advice regarding variable blends in NX3 is to place the blend, then go back and edit it using rollback (from the part navigator) to get the blend you need.

You also might want to make sure your Snap toolbar is visible while the blend dialog is active & make sure that 'Allow variable & setback' is checked on, if in fact, the original edge blend dialog is still accessible.
