=============

I asked this on the BBS last week and got ZERO responses, so here goes:

I have a user that came to me with the following scenario:

He has an assembly, called ABC with child parts X and Y. Part Y has an expression that governs the length of an extrude.

In the assy file ABC, he would like to vary the length of Part Y, so he wants to use an interpart expression.

Now, he wants to use assy file ABC as the template file for a Part Family, and he wants to vary that same length expression governing the length of Part Y, in the Part Family Spreadsheet.

Can this be done, and if so, how?

Many thanks!

Create the Variable in the assembly file. Then create the linked expression from part "Y" and make it equal to that Assembly variable. Create your family of parts and add the variable to the family table.
