NX4 Text Into Spread Sheet?

Yes, we are still using NX4, but my hands are tied by corporate policy so please do not look down upon me.

My question is this, our engineering staff has tasked me with finding out if I can take text from our unparametric parts list (I.E.: Part No., Description, Vendor, and Vendor Part No.) and some how get it into spread sheet form. I realize that NX has the capability to automatically populate the parts list, but again my department does not want to use it. So I manually input all text into the drawing parts list.

Any help on this issue would help and thanks in advance.

How are you creating the parts list, is it a tabular note or just a series of annotation objects?

Our parts list is non-parametirc and I am inputing the text as a series of annotation objects.

Have you tried exporting the assembly navigator to a spreadsheet? It is not a perfect solution, but may give you a good start.

That I can do, but the supplier part numbers and names were not part of the data input into it's attributes. That is the process we have been using, but some of our department's drawings do not have a parts tree, just one big parametrically challenged model that an extensive parts lits was added to on the drawing.

Thanks for your help though.

I was just checking to see if anyone had any miraculous suggestions...

Open the assembly file and go to...

Tools -> Spreadsheet...

...and when Excel is launched note the additional menu item on the main menu bar titled 'Add-Ins'. Select the 'cell' where you would like to start the list of Attributes and then expand the 'Add-Ins' menu list and select 'Extract Attr'. This will cause all of the attributes assigned to all of the components to be loaded into the cells of the spreadsheet. You can now edit and/or clean up the entries and when you're happy with the results, you can go to the normal Excel menus and do a Save-As and save the extracted information to an external spreadsheet.

Alright, as it turns out H.S. had a custom NX Open program developed that will do just as requested with our parametrically challenged parts lists. It searches all the sheets of a drawing and pulls the supplier address information from the notes on sheet 1 and all the data from the parts list (I.E.: Qty., Find No., Part No., Description, Supplier Part No., and Supplier Name) and places it in a spreadsheet that can be manipulated and saved.

Thanks again everyone for trying to help me on this.
