Hi everyone,

I´ll try to explain the problem the best I can:

Let´s say that I´m working in a folder name "A",I save some file and then I close NX.

Then I open a file in a folder name "B" (already existing and with some ug file from earlier work):
the problem appends when i want to save a new file in "B assembly", it will sugest me to save my file in the "A" folder !!! from previous work.

The result is if i´m not very focus i´ll be saving file in other than supposed folder.

Any solution???

the second error only append in the last update (NX5.0.4.1)when I used a template to do the 2d drawing the master part to do the 2D drawing is only the good one at the first time.
At the second drawing you´ll make the master part for the drawing will not be the file you want to draw but the one you first drawn previously.

please, both of this error are very stupid and provoque a lot of mistake from user.

Thanks .

For the first question, there is some logic that the system does follow. I think you understand what it is. Can you describe how you would like it to be different.

Otherwise you may find settings for the starting work folders in ugii_env.dat I don't know if it will help you. It may be if you give us some more info that we see the question is a different one.

I haven't tried with NX-5.0.4.1 yet is this the first version of NX-5 that you are using or did the problem just start when you applied the upgrade.

Hi,

I believe the "problem" start with the first version of nx5.
The problem is when i open an assembly in "B" folder and create a new component, i expect to save it in the work assembly folder and not in previous folder i last time worked.

You see, if you only work in one project you shouldn´t fell the problem so much: but when need to work in several assembly every day it become very easy to save an "B component" in a "A assembly folder " .

I´ll try to look in ugii_env_dat but I thought since costumer default appears this file became useless.?

There is however a variable in costumer default that should do what i pretend but it as no effect.

thanks for your support.

It's a dialog memory problem which we are addressing. There is also a proposal to add a 'reset' button to the 'File New' dialog which would force all fields back to their out-of-the-box defaults.

Well it´s exacly the problem, I hope that a patch or something appear asap because right now, and in my company I have allready found mabe 10 or 15 file from my college and possibly myself in folder that they shouldn´t be.

thanks again

Yes I know what you mean now, hopefully there will be a fix out soon to address these issues. Working in teamcenter most of the time of course we don't see this as much, but I wonder if it relates somehow to my ongoing struggles to be able to reset the locks status. Also we try to avoid working in personal folders where possible, which may not be appropriate to your needs but explains why we're not having as many problems.

I wonder if you shouldn't try to script the starting directory to be the one where you want to work as part of starting up NX, so that there is less opportunity for confusion. Each operator would then need their own batch file if you wanted to work in personal or project based directories, but something like that may cut down on the number of problems that you're having until the software can be addressed.

Best Regards

HI, I think I understand and allready set ug work directory but it just doesn´t help very much.
It only help if you create a new file from scratch.
if you continue work from a specific directory it won´t help much.

I´ll have unfortunatly to wait for a fix :(
hope it´ll come soon

Thanks
