Is there anyway to change a setting that keeps the size of the assembly file small after doing an assembly cut?

Example:
I have an assembly of 53 parts and save:
File size 244KB

Now I make an assembly cut using a simple cylinder and save:
File size 72,132KB

My assumption about the assembly cut was it did it all internally to the memory. I guess I was wrong ;)

Thanks,

Keegan

It's the not the "simple cylinder", but rather the part you performed the 'Cut' on. In order to make this work, we have to 'promote' (associatively copy) the part which you are cutting into the assembly. This adds a fully detailed (less the actual feature structure, but it does include all of the faces and edges) copy of the solid of each part being cut, into the Assembly file. Now there is an alternative and that is using the PMI module and using the Section View tool, which is much more efficient, but it will only allow you to create simple sketched 'cutting bodies' (you can't subtract one predefined component from another like you can with Assembly Cut).
