I have not done a lot of detailing lately. Even when I did, I rarely used expanded view. I have almost all icon menues off, to maximize working screen size. In expanded view Insert-Point and Insert-Curve are mostly grayed out. However, activating the icon menu allows insertion of both elements into the expanded view. Is this duality of status as designed or is there a toggle here at work that needs to be adjusted? Thanks Guys!

Why not just pick the view, press MB3 and select the option labeled "Active Sketch View' and then just use the sketch tools (be sure that you have the 'Sketch Tools' toolbar turned-on) to draw your curves and points? You can still see your entire drawing and if you create a curve or point 'outside' the view-bounds they will automatically resize so that whatever you sketch will always be inside the highlighted view. And when you wish to sketch in another view, just pick that view and repeat the steps above. Can't make it much easier (except we did in NX 7.5).

Thanks, Will the dimensions done in this manner be accurate? Mine were coming out half as large as they should have been. "Easier" would be context sensitive warnings that tell you "this is now not supported, try..." I suspect that a search in the online docs would not be of a lot of value. Re: hole change process in NX5.

If you have a drawing where the scale of the views are 1:2 and you draw a 100mm dia circle as a sketch IN a view versus sketching a 100mm dia circle on the face of the drawing, the second circle will appear to be twice the size of the one in the view. However, the smaller circle will match the scale of the model itself, just that it was drawn in the context of, and thus relative to the scale of the view when compared to the drawing, which is always 1:1 (at least if you use the system as recommend it will be).

So when you start adding curves to a drawing which is anything other than 1:1 scale, if the size of the object which you're adding are going to created in terms of what one would like to see if the drawing were plotting out onto paper, then draw them on the Drawing sheet itself. However, if the objects are to drawn relative to the model size, then draw them in the context of the relevant views.
