Hello

I'm trying to edit the attributes of parts in an assembly using excel. I right click in the assembly navigtator and say "Export To Spreadsheet".

After modifying values I hit "Save/Update/Ctrl+S" and close excel to return to NX6. Nothing changes.

Specifically i'm trying to edit the "CALLOUT" attribute.

Using NX 6.0.2.8 in Teamcenter Engineering 10.0.3.8.6 environment.

Does anybody know of a way to edit attributes like this in a spreadsheet-style format? Either in NX6, Excel, or perhaps there is a way in teamcenter.

Thanks,
Frank

As far as I can help you is to say that there are ways to get the contents of item masters or product structures into excel spreadsheets using teamcentre because I have seen it done by others although I couldn't tell you how.

From directly with NX ways to do something similar would include adding the attributes that you want to export to columns of the ANT. From the ANT you can simply export the contents as displayed at any given point in time to a spreadsheet by clinking with MB3 in the grey heading area.

Similarly from a parts list on a drawing you can export to a delimited text file which will come into excel correctly.

You can also create a tabular note to include attributes which can be edited using a spreadsheet if you wish.

For example: Use the Tools -> Spreadsheet menu. On the new Worksheet you can select the Add-Ins tab and select the Extract Attr command. You can select the required row and change the value of attribute. Then you must use the Update NX Part command from the above tab on the worksheet. And select the Close & Returning the Modeling.

I've not done this myself but I don't believe this particular "Export To SpreadSheet" function is associative.
The help file comments as follows ...

"Exports the contents of this list box to a spreadsheet. You can use the spreadsheet tools to help you analyze or publish the data."

Doesn't sound associative to me but shout if I'm wrong.

Of the methods I described in my earlier response the table is associative.
