NX6 thumbnails and previews

I am using NX6 on 64bit windows OS. How do I enable previews of thumbnails? I don't see them in windows explorer or when I do a file/open in the preview window. In the customer defaults previews are enabled by default.
I noticed that when I click on the properties of a part that the preview options are grayed out.

Are you using dual monitors? Sometimes, if your NX window is on the 2nd monitor, previews won't save properly (in NX6 at least).

Make sure that there actually is a preview stored in that file:
File > properties > preview (tab)

Jerry, when I go to the properties all the options in the preview tab are grayed out. I suspect the issues lies here, but I don't know why they are grayed out.

when you are in that "preview" tab, make sure "store preview" is checked on.
On mine there are two places for that, and I have them both checked on.

Not running teamcenter, but why would that matter? The reason I ask is because another group at our facility does have teamcenter and they have the same problem

Has it been disabled in your customer defaults?
Check in the Gateway -> General -> Part tab and see if the store preview and model view preview are on or off.

They are on in the gateway, but when I open a part, the properties preview tab options are grayed out.

If you create a new blank part (not from a template) are the options still greyed out?
