OK, I admit to dragging my feet here in getting NX7 up and running. Well, we have reached the point where we are now using it. So far, so good, except for the User Interface. Before, I could set my dialog line at the bottom of the screen. I wear bifocals, and it is much easier for me to follow it there. The problem is that I can't find where to change it in NX7. It seems to be permanently placed on top of the view window, and is starting to give me a pain in the neck, literally.
Is there a setting somewhere other than Preferences --> User Interface --> Layout to change this? I hope so, because I really don't want to have to buy another pair of glasses just for NX. ;-)
TIA!

It's right where it's always been.

Go to...

Tools -> Customize -> Layout

...change the 'Cue/Status Position' from 'Top' to 'Bottom'.

Ach... shows my memory ain't what it used to be.
Thanks, John!

Is there a reason why it is located where it is? It is intuitive to me to look for it under Preferences -> User Interface, as that is essentially what it is. Shouldn't the settings under Tools -> Customize -> Layout and those under Preferences -> User Interface be combined?
Just wondering, as I am becoming concerned as to the lack of user intuition that seems to be increasing in some of these menu structures.

The primary reason for it being there is that unlike the settings under...

Preferences -> User Interface...

...the options set in Customize are saved in the .mtx file (which can also be included in your personal Role), while the Preferences are being saved in the 'registry'. Over time, we have tried to reduce our dependency on the 'registry' as much as possible, ultimately to ONLY those settings which would be specific to a particular workstation and not necessarily to a user. We're not there 100% yet, but that is our longterm goal.

Remember what they say, your memory is the second thing to go.

But I can't recall what the first was.

The way I heard it was

Q: Remember what they say, your memory is the second thing to go.

A: What's the first?

Q: I forget.

Hence... I forget the punchline!
