NX8.0.0 journal problems

We are experiencing issues with running journals in NX8.0.0 (on Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit). We get errors related to library loading when running the journal from either the command line, or from within an open NX session.

The journal in question is a very simple "File>Open" procedure, and it works perfectly fine in NX7.5.3.

When run from the command line, the NX8 error is:

Error loading libraries needed to run a journal.
Caught unexpected error: 3600001: No message for HRESULT 0x80004001

When run from within an already-running NX8 session, an error box titled "Hit OK to continue" pops up, saying "Invalid attempt to load library". I've attached a screenshot of the error box.

Has anyone seen similar problems with journaling in NX8? Any idea how to fix it?

Was the journal created in NX 8.0 or are you running the same one that works in NX 7.5?

We are seeing the same errors occur with journals created in NX7.5 OR NX8, when executed in NX8.

Please contact GTAC with these issues and provide them with both sets of journals.

I opened a GTAC IR, and after a few false starts, the suggestion was to check whether .NET 4 was installed on the workstation. It was not. After installing .NET 4, journalling works on NX8.

I hate to bring this up ;-), but the following was taken from the NX 8.0 Release Notes:

"...to replay a .NET journal, the .NET Framework 4 must be installed.

In the really unlikely event that an end-user installs the software without reading all the Release Notes first, a more descriptive Error Message would be nice (which is what the GTAC/NX Open folks are now working on).

Especially since by default, up-to-date (ie with all standard MS updates applied) Win7 SP1 workstations will not have .NET 4 loaded... So I expect many users who use journals might run into this problem.
