NX8.5.1 BLEND PROBLEM

Hi Guys,
I probably should call GTAC, but I thought maybe someone could answer this for me. We've just moved to 8.5 in the last month and we're having a problem with the Blend command. As you can see on the jpeg, the blend isn't making it all the way to the end. The little triangular area would have been included in NX8.0. I've tried changing as many settings as I can, but it's always the same. Anybody have a solution to this problem? Is there a setting I'm missing?

Without the actual model it's going to be hard to see what the problem is or what options might make it work. If you can't provide the entire model trim the model (WITHOUT the problem blend) until all you have left are edges and faces that are adjacent to where the blend is being added. Then save a copy and in this remove all the parameters so that non of the rest of the model is in the history, or you could export out a Parasolid version of the left-over solid and import it back into an empty file (this will protect your 'intellectual property" since only the dumb solid chunk will remain). Do this to an NX 8.0 verion of the model so that we'll have something to test in both NX 8.0 and NX 8.5 since you said it seems to work as expected in NX 8.0. Also, before you send the model test it again, in both NX 8.0 and NX 8.5 to make sure the blending behavior has not changed since you reduced the model to this dumb solid chunk.

If you can't do this then we need more picture from different angles and using both NX 8.0 and NX 8.5 do that we can see what it's supposed to look like as well as a better idea of what this part of the model looks like.

Hi John,
Here's an 8.5.1 file of the portion in question. I hope it's enough to show the issue. I don't have 8.0 installed anymore, so I guess I can't really say with assurance that it would have worked in 8.0. We do a lot of this kind of thing without trouble, so I assumed (stop laughing everyone) that it would've been ok. I'm not trying to be one of those guys who complain at every little thing, just trying to figure out what to do.

I exported a parasolid to NX8 and it doesn't work there either. The "problem" is the small planar surface is acting as the blend cap face. Is the planar face necessary in the model? If not, you can go back in the model history to eliminate it, or use replace face (either before or after you apply the blend) to get rid of it.

I left your blend on the model but on the other side, where I assume you'd like a similar blend, I first deleted the small planar face that cowski mentioned then I added the blend, which gives the results which I suspect you were looking for. The new model is attached below.

See, that's why we come here. The entire part is a little too complicated for "Delete Face" work, but I was able to put on a small radius and stop it at the next intesection. I ended up with the attached jpeg. Probably better than what I was aiming for. Thanks to both of you.
