NX8.5 Cannot attach Datum Flag to 3D datum in Drafting

I find it hard to believe that this isn't possible but I can't find a way to make it happen.

I have a drawing section view that has a 3D Datum A visible in it. I want to add a datum flag to the datum to identify it. However, I can't select the Datum line at all except to dimension to it. See image.

I can't see the problem in NX8.5 when I tested.
Can you provide an example part as maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're doing.
