I need to replace the o-ring in my fuel petcock. The o-ring will be in contact with gasoline.

I was wondering if I need to pay special attention to the material that the o-ring is made of for gasoline service?

The o-ring is metric and approx. 7/16 od X 1/16 thick (don't have the actual metric measurements).

I used regular black "O" rings on the petcocks of my vintage Norton---I expect but have seen no problems in two years, at least, not yet. I do have a set of the red "Viton" rings but I haven't needed to use them in this application. Normally I use only the synthetic (vuton) in gasoline service, carbs, pumps, etc.
