Was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the Oasis system. I had one here for a week running an evaluation and the Gage R&R reports seem to point to it being capable above tolerances of ±.001 with a P/Tol. ratio of about .14. At tolerances of ±.0005 the Gage R&R returned a P/Tol. ratio of around .3, so it seems pretty much unuseable at that level.

Has anyone used these? How good is the long term acceptance and trust of the reported dimensions? What types of tolerances are you using it for? Are there any issues to be aware of? Are there any other similar units on the market? We're considering purchasing one or two, but the cost makes it a bit of a tough sell. I think it'll be OK as long as the machinists understand its limitations and use it accordingly.

It looks like it works similar to a Optical Comparator without the templates. The fine part is you don't have to do any of the manipulating and math. I see no problems with the stated precision.
This isn't something for the shop floor, tool room maybe.
