Object Attribute not updating in format

I've been searching NX Solution Center, this forum, etc.. but have come up empty. I've configured and set up my format templates per JBaker's recipe (re:thread

but, when I start a new drawing of a model, the attribute for the drawing title does not find the new model, and remains <W!0@?DB_PART_DESC> until I re-establish the relationship to the new component. It doesn't happen automatically as I expected. Anyone know what might be going on here? Why the relationship gets disconnected? I appreciate the help!
