Object Attribute references in balloons

The last post in thread561-126691 says that you can insert references to part attributes in balloon text, which I've found, but I can't figure out how to put the 'callout' number in the balloon (I'm doing an assembly drawing).

Can anyone help me out with this? I'm using NX7 in TC, if that makes any difference.

Never mind, I've managed to do it by typing in the part's Item ID rather than trying to pick it (Quick Pick doesn't seem to pick up some components, don't know why).
