Obtaining SWCP status

I attended SW World 05 in Orlando. I was amazed at how many SWCP's that were down there. Other than the Application Engineers from the VAR's, can someone tell me what is the benefit of becoming one if you are not working for a VAR?

Did your company pay for it?
Did you get a raise once certified?

The biggest benefit is getting to wear the CSWP tag on your admission badge. LOL

Yes my company did pay for it and no I didn't recieve a raise just for passing the test. I would say the biggest benefit for me is being able to prove I know SW well enough to be certified by the company. This is a benefit when looking for employment, sub contracting, interacting with SW or other users.

rockguy is correct!

But it's also nice to have it because you get respect from your peers, at least most will give you respect for getting it. I have had a few unrespectful people from comp.cad.solidworks. But it makes it easier to find a job in SW then it would be if you didn't have that little cert. I have had mine for about 5 years now.

However, if you go work for a VAR you have to pass a much harder test, then the User CSWP test. Depending on what you do in the company will vary on the test you must take for SW.
