Would Y’all please enlighten this ignorant old coot on a thingy that has been troubling me for some time?

How will the electricity be gathered and “safely” transported at the HAWTs generating electricity, planned to be located about 25 miles from the coast of Cape Cod, in the middle of Nantucket Sound?

Publications indicate there will be 130 units, 440 ft. above sea level, throughout a 25-mile area.

No idea what a HAWT is, but undersea cables are a well established technology.

Yup, Tasmania is tied to the North Island via an electric cable, with a sea return line. That's about 50-100 miles.

SIG:please see FAQ731-376 for tips on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips.

HAWT = High Altitude Wind Turbine ... but I don't think those are planned for the Sound.

[cheers]

Sorry for my omission folks, the recognized wind energy industry terminology is:

HAWT = Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine!

When doing a Google for a better image of the Cape Cod Wind
farm, (Wind Park), than the image I scanned from my local news paper, I found that the image bar scale in the local paper showing 20 miles, was in error. This caused my original statement of; "located about 25 miles from the coast of Cape Cod" to be in error.

It should have been estimated at about 5 miles instead.

The Cape Cod website shows great imagination..... nearly every headline accompanied by a samey picture of a bunch of wind turbines.
At a guess these are stock photos and not Cape Cod photos but who cares, you'd just like that if they have to illustrate each article they show some imagination.

Sorry JMW, I didn't find the smily picture of a bunch of wind turbines at the link as you stated.

I did see this--

Hi JMW

The map image I show is at home page, and above and to the right of the wind charger images You reference.

Thank You JLSeagull

Long before AG invented the Internet, the way a question was ask controlled the answer results.

My asking ability from Google has revealed much but most times I stumble through many, many, revision of the question.

"Search subsea power cable."
Google now provides great information.

Thank You- - - -

I hear that CERN wants to take some of the credit from AG.
