Offshore Plant Performance Monitoring

From my experience within the refining industry I'd say that the performance monitoring of process plant was common practice. This would traditionally involve, steadying the plant on a regular basis, perhaps weekly, then gathering and analysing samples/data to determine efficiency/performance.

Since moving into the upstream (offshore production) section of industry I have seen little of this kind of plant monitoring behaviour. Has anyone out there seen this kind of performance monitoring for offshore production systems and if so what is typically monitored?

Thanks Craig.

In my offshore experience this type of monitoring is only done when required by a project or specific reason. Generally trying to "steady" the operaiton is not always easy as many offshore facilities have their rates set by consumer demand and must be able to increase and decrease rates on demand (e.g. gas supply contracts). I myself have done some offshore monitoring but for specific reasons and not a regualr thing. The only normal monitoring I have seen is the day to day logging of process variables. Sampling and testing is not done routinely.
