Does anyone know what a rough estimate or specific information dealing with the numbers of electrical instrumentation involved with an offshore petroleum production platform.

I know that there is over 25,000 on the Hibernia platform.
I am looking for the rough number and then I can more easily find how much weight all the wired instruments and cable total.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Platforms are diverese. There are unattended platforms that use the associated gas for pneumatic controls. There are kilometer long interconnected platforms. There are floaters, spars, EIEIO platforms. Hibernia is a reasonably large platform, not the largest by far. By electrical instruments are you counting only the field sensors, horn-light devices, the control room end too? This includes all the devices on the gas-turbine machinery and other packages?

For the electrical instruments I am mainly interested in field sensors. But I also would like to get information about every area including horn-light devices and control room. Basically anything that has a slight possibility of being converted from wired to wireless.

Thanks,
Jeremy
