Oil additives

What benefits do these additives add to a hydraulic oil?

phosphourus
zinc
calcium
silicon


I assume it helps seals and o-rings but I dont know that for a fact.

Recommended for you

Phosphorous and Zinc in the form ZDDP are anti-wear and anti-galling additives. Calcium, usually in the form Calcium Phenate has high alkalinity and helps to neutralize acidity arising from Sulphur in fuel and/or EP oils. Silicon(e) breaks up surface bubbles in oil.

Suggest you contact a lubrication engineer for more info (I'm not)
