im curious how you folks handle drawing numbering and rev handling of multi phased projects that have overlapping areas? Im used to (in the mech and elec disciplines) having the initial phased project drawings that may have been IFC'd for phase one, get rev'd up for phase 2. reving up the drawings that overlap to show the separate phases would eliminate the possibility of the plant having 2 drawings in existence that show the same area but contain different data. we may have a case where we are actually revving up drawings for the phase 1 project but also working on phase 2 drawings that share the same 3d model files. any help here would be greatly appreciated. here are some current notes about this ongoing discussion:
-Mainly the drawings that have some overlapping views in the plant are site plans, Foundation location plans and pipe rack/structural support location plans.
-each phase is a separate project number for us (the EPC)
-the client sees the two phased project as a single project
-there are multiple foundation location drawings, site plans, etc that have overlapping areas in the plant.
-permitting is requiring IFC level drawings for the permit on phase 2 (phase 1 permit drawings were already submitted when we went to IFC rev 0)
