Dear All

As you know, there are submersible pumps with the winding cavity filled with oil. This oil should be obviously dielectric oil. However, the main concern here is the oil should be compatible with the insulation system of the winding. Usually the oil is refined paraffinic type.

Does any one can recommend some brand and provide technical data for some transformer oil that have used with successful in Class F/H machines rated 2.3kV or above?

Thanks in advance

We used a highly refined white mineral oil with no additives.
We bought from Amoco in Whiting Indiana, but Chevron, Maverik, Petro-Canada and others refine it.
We made 3600rpm motors up to about 3600V, we used very low viscosity. As I recall it was 6-8cSt or so.
We also used a pure POA base oil for higher temps, it was about 2-4cSt.

Thanks EdStainless,

Your information is very useful. Accordingly with my search, at least one manufacturer recommend: "Paraffinoil, free-flowing, Merkur Pharma 40, made by DEA, Duoprime 90 made by LYONDELL or equivalent, non-toxic".

Mineral oils (transformer oils) are not suitable for Class-H temperatures.
It should be a synthetic fluid like Silicone based one that is used in indoor transformers and has a flash point of over 300 degC.

Oil for hermetic compressors may be suitable.
It may be easier to source.
