We are running pipe equpment with oil.
In short cycles we have to emplty all the oil from the system. After draining we are blowing compressed air through the system. This works well and the remaining oil is emtied. Unfortuatelly it creates a oil mist.
(Not very healthy)
From this we would like to separate the oil and air.
Does anyone have a sugestion. Maybe one could build this type of equpment on its own.
I am speaking only about a small unit.
Amount of residual oil blown out of the system about 1/4 liter. Does anyone know manufacturers or have a proposal how to design such a unit?

You could build one on your own, but I would recommend checking with your company's standards first. I haven't seen demisters for as small an application like yours, but then again I haven't looked before. Here's some info on types and materials for demisters...

Oil mist can consist of sub micron particles, which are difficult to separate. My experience is with turbine lube oil vent exhauster discharge. It appears your application has similarities. I would suggest contacting the following vendors, who have experience in this area.

Koch Otto York:

CECO Filters:

I have made demisters by cutting 10 micron bag filters open and placing between two pieces of expanded metal. The piece of expnaded metal on the pipe outlet should have a reinforcing band that clamps to the pipe. I have found it is best to make the filter at least 3 pipe sizes larger than the permanent pipe exit point to prevent high velocity from damaging the bag.

Thanks for your replies.
One Question to rngrrix, where do you get the filters from.
Do you have suppliers. Ideally in the UK.
Thanks
