What is the theory of oil purifier?

What type? Centrifuge, electrostatic, thermal...? What did you find out on Google?
 
I have a WVO designs RAW centrifuge that I clean my WVO and red diesel with. Centrifuges are a pretty common method of cleaning all types of oils.
 
"Oil purifier" is a rather generic term, but it usually refers to a system that does a more thorough job of cleaning and conditioning oil than a conventional filter system is designed for. A purifier would remove moisture, entrained gases, very small size particulates, etc. Purifier are often completely independent systems that can periodically be connected to a reservoir to purify the oil supply without taking the machine off-line. One "theory" behind using this type of oil purifier is that if you have many machines with oil systems in a particular installation, you can save cost on each machine by equipping it with just a basic oil filtration system and then perform the more complex filtering functions periodically using a shared purifier machine.
 
We have done a lot of work on benefits of filtering grinding fluids used to grind carbide at carbide processors.

Essentially much longer oil life, less machine maintenance lower cots, better results.

Why do you filter oil in an automobile, for example?

Not sure what purifying means exactly but the definition above looks pretty good.

That's an excellent question. Auto engine oil systems provide a great example of where an oil "purifier" would be beneficial, but is not practical due to higher cost. Auto engine oil filters are simply particulate filters, and the level of particulate filtration they use is determined by the maximum particle size that can safely pass through the hydrodynamic oil film contacts in the engine bearings. Using too fine a filtration level can result in an oversized filter element, and one that must be replaced too often.

Moisture and entrained gases in the oil are concerns with auto engine lube systems, but these problems are addressed with anti-foaming and emulsifier additives in the oil. The oil additives are much less effective at addressing the problems than a purifier would be, but using oil additives is also far less expensive.
