Hello, We are considering changing to a SolidWorks re-seller that is closer to home. 20 minutes versus 90. The 'new' reseller has stated that we should just let our support lapse and then he would re-establish support thru him without the extra service charge.

Pros, cons, thoughts?

Thanks,
Chris

I think that's the only way to do it is let your current support contract expire. We did the same thing four years ago due re-seller issues. I would call SWx corporate for the final answer if you want to do it asap.

Either reseller should be able to get you a change of reseller form. Any reseller worth their salt should give you support if they are your official reseller on record, even if they have not yet gotten your support dollars because of when your subscription rolls over.

If your VAR is giving you a poor support, I think you should contact SW reporting that and asking to change VAR (of course there are some issues to solve, as you alredy payed the support).

If you are changing for your convenience, with no complaints about your VAR support, the best way is to wait until the end of the subscription contract.
