Have an old house with corbelled brick footings and piers. We are adding a camelback/addition which about 10ft of the camelback will sit on top of old existing structure with rest to be on new construction and foundation. Was told I could add additional single footings under existing structure to accept the weight of the new camelback.
I had some ideas.
1) Can I excavate around the existing corbelled single footings and jacket them with concrete? The new jacket dimensions would be 30"x30"x16" depth with proper amount of rebar. OR
2) Can I excavate and form a continuous 10ft footing and incorporate the existing brick footings?

The existing footings are 8" wide and reach a max length of 20" at about 16" depth. The new continuous footing would be 30" wide and 16" deep by 10-12FT.

Thanks,
Jeff
