I need help getting started with Draftsight. I am retired and would like to learn how to
use Draft sight. I was a CADAM guru with IBM years ago. I helped in it's design and taught
over 250 users, of the main frame version.

I am ashamed to admit, I do not even understand the language used with this beast.
Anyone out there that can help me get started?

Dean

G'Day Dean,
[/I am 80yrs young and have been a DraftSight user (totally non-professional user) for several years now. I have stumbled my way through all the help facilities, both within the programme help and on the dreaded WEB version.
Let's talk about getting the best out of all the 'gobbldy-gook that exists.

David from down under. Great to here from ya Mate. I am from
the great tundra of northern Minnesota. I am just a pup 69yrs
old. Would be great to have someone to ask questions. I can't
believe how stupid this beast is making me feel.
Would you like me to ask hear on this fourm, or I can send you my
email for direct?

Dean

Sounds good to me.
My first question is. Where can I find a tutorial for version 2019?
I have the purchased basic draft sight. The tutorial I found is for a down level.
Much pain trying to figure it out.

Does any one out there have a version of Micro Cad? I actually bought a version from
IBM,(probably the only one sold) after about a month they gave it out free.
My version had mechanical keys for it. They fried in a lighting storm.
There was a book wrote by Daniel Smyth (Using Micro Cadam). It had the software with the book.
All copies I have found in the world have the software missing.

Thanks for any input

Does this link work for you -
Draftsight tutorials:
I cannot imagine the older tutorials are that much different than the software. I don't think the UI has changed since it was released.

That tutorial appears to have been made back when they were running DraftSight on Windows XP, but should still be relevant.
In theory most of the commands are the same. They are just harder to find (in my opinion).
If you switch the interface back to Classic Default then it will be easier to follow the tutorial.
To switch the interface, look up in the top left corner for a pull down menu that says "Drafting and Annotation" then click on it and select Classic Default.
I'm not aware of any tutorials that have been made with the newer ribbon interface.

Scott Thank you very much, the tutorials are a lot closer.
But I think you made my day. I am thinking the files are for MCADAM.
I also am assuming they can be downloaded. I have a CAM and a Bridgeport CNC Mill,
I could fire up after many years of not using and not wanting to upgrade.

I can't thank you enough
Dean
