I have to build a spring prototype on a rapid prototyper and I try with no success to draw a spring on Catia V5, how do I do??
Also, I would like to represent 3d threading and after build the part on a rapid prototyper. I use the treading fonction but I don't have the 3d representation, I think that this fonction is for drafting only.

thanks

hi,

in order to draw a spring you gotta use helix function in GSD for exemple, and use the curve as a center and spine for your sweep function. You can adjust the extremities with other slef made curves.

For your thread you should do the same, Helix curve, thread profil along a sweep surface... It might take some times to build the curves but it works.

Mail me if you wanna some files.

(i use R9SP3).....waiting R10

Have fun,

Eric

hi

By using the helix command you can also do a taper spring also along the surface. even you can use line command and say angle normal to curve type and you can draw a wrap curve. alos you have a wrap curve command too in GSD

I am using v5 r8
