Online Course?

I am looking for online courses in fluid power design. I currently am a Senior CAD Technican, but before this job I did mechanical design(4yrs), hydraulic & pnuematic design(3 yrs). I have a certificate in industrial hydraulics. But I want to go back to school and get a degree. I want to focus on fluid power & mechanical engineering. Anyone have any ideas where to look? Or if there is any distant learning course? Or courses in Washington state?

Thank you! I will be reading that. Is this book available for purchase?
I'm in the Tacoma/Seattle area, do you know of any courses in this area? I want to refresh myself and get some sort of certification for job promotion. Oh, also, this is one hard area to be interested in and find a job in, expecially being a woman. I have to work hard to prove I know what I'm doing! I have designed around 100 hydraulic units plus pneumatics, lube & coolant systems for retrofitted machine tools that are running in factories. I just seems because I don't have a BS then I don't know anything, but I think the experience I have and the training I have counts for something! Ok, sorry, enough of my rant.

Any leads you could give me as to where to start would be great!

I have three books I use to teach Fluid Power. The Basic one you saw, one on Trouble Shooting Hydraulic Circuits and one callled Fluid Power Circuits Explained that I use for and advanced circuit desifn class. It is 375 pages of basic circuits plus some actual working circuits that shows the circuit in schematic form. The circuit is then shown with valves shifted and actuators moved to their new condition for a complete cycle. On the facing page is an explanation of what is happening as the cycle progresses.

I do a lot of traing classes, hence the books since I got fed up with using company books to teach from since much of the information was company related. You might check with the local Tech Colleges or schools that have Adult Education classes and do some instructing. You are probably more qualified than any teacher in the school. At least that is a place to start. Companies often are looking for training for their Mechanical Maintenance persons so that is another place to look. Contract work can pay well since you are not on their compamy programs and only get paid when you work. I have received many contacts from teaching classes and many places to teach those classes.

If you can hire in as a Mechanic you will soon find you are the hydraulic expert and will be in demand throughout the plant for any hydraulic or pneumatic problem. It seems it is only the larger companies that will even take an application from the feminine gender though.
