hello....

i am working on nx 9.0. When i run analysis in nx nastran , sometime the problem is getting solved and it is saying "job finished".
But results icon is still gray in colour( which indicates there are no results available, i guess).and when i tried to open the results it is saying ".op2 file is not found.".
And some times its getting solved, the icon changed to coloured icon , When i tried to open the results it is saying "no results found" or "results are in wrong format". can any one help me in sorting it out.

I'd write the .f06 file so I can read what it's complaining about ... there are other ways but I'm olde school.

I'd check the analysis procedure to see where it's writing files, particularly given the inconsistent results. if it's writing to default folders, specify specific ones so you know where the files are.

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

thanks for a quick reply..

my all .f06,.f05,.dat,....etc are all saved in the same directory, only .op2 file is not found there . So as you said i ll check in it in .fo6 file

Hello!,
This is a typical behaviour of NX AdvSim: job always finished, but if the solver gets error (and consequenctly not any *.op2 file exist) then not results are availbale, and not any error pop-up window appear in the screen. To learn how to know the reason of the solver error, then open the *.F06 file with any text editor (like notepad.exe) and search for the word FATAL, there you have the explanation of the error. Fix and rerun the analysis.

Regarding the error "results in wrong format", this is typical as well: could be many reasons, one could be that you imported the nastran input file directly form an external preprocessor like FEMAP or PATRAN that use PARAM,POST,-1 in the bulk data, but NX AdvSim use PARAM,POST,-2, then the error: the op2 file is in wrong format, and NX could not postprocess results. Before importing the nastran input file you need to edit the POST command.

PARAM,POST,-1 outputs the appropriate files for FEMAP & Patran. PARAM,POST,-2 outputs the appropriate files for the NX and I-DEAS Dataloader program. PARAM,POST,-4 outputs the files along with OPHIG for the MSC_NF interface by LMS International. PARAM,POST,-5 outputs the files along with LAMA and OPHG1 for the FemTools interface by Dynamic Design Solutions. PARAM, POST=-4 and -5 are intended for SOL 103 only.

For SOL 601,N or SOL 701, PARAM,POST,-2 must be specified to generate both geometry and results data blocks in the .op2 file. PARAM,POST,-1 must be specified to generate only results data blocks. Otherwise, no .op2 file is generated.

Best regards,
Blas.
