Opening V4Sessions with V5

Hi all together,

I've a problem with sessions of V4.

Our customer sends us new models as a session which contains all models. The models are not send as .model, but there several .session-files which contain the geometrical information.

If I open such a file CATIA V5 crashes. Is there any posibility to open that files from V5?

I am using CATIA V5R16SP8.

Hi,

If you have v4 , try first to clean the model (/cln) and eliminate all errors and erase/pack.

Then you can try to migrate v4 to v5 without opening CATIA v5.

I do not have V4.

I didn't get any CATPart files while migrating that session to V5.

And that is what I wnat.

They won't.

There must be a possibility...

The problem is that in a session file you have same situation like in a CATProduct (hope I remember well). Can you see how big is the size of your session file?

Seeing this, you can estimate if you really heva geometrical information inside or not....

They have data sizes fron several hundred KBytes up to 40 or fifty MegaBytes.

There must be geometrical Information in them.

Try something like this C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B12\intel_a\code\bin\ double clcik on CATUTIL.exe and run it without CATIA opened.

The only thing I get is an CATProduct, but not an CATPart or model.
