I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. To minimize the amount of wear on the battery I've configured a system where the charger will turn on at a certain level and turn back off again at a certain level.

My question is, what is the optimal level to start charging the battery and the optimum level to stop charging the battery? Currently I turn on the charger at 65% and turn off the charger at 66%. So the phone hovers between 65 and 66% continuously throughout the day while it's plugged into the charger.

Any insight you can provide on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I only unplug my Samsung laptop from the charger when I go to the field, otherwise it's 100% ALL the time. Original battery in a 2009 gamer 4 core 2-drive behemoth. I can detect no noticeable reduction in battery run-time.

My S6 I leave on the cordless charger most of the time I'm not out of the office so it mostly gets 100%'ed. Same story, I don't detect any reduction in run time. I've also run it down to single digit remaining occasionally.

Life's too short, keep it fully charged and don't think about it again. I don't think any particular charge regime you come up with will be worth the hassle or make a difference over some other variable you may not even be aware of.

You're cycling the charger continuously to try to avoid battery life issues, but the hysterisis of the cycle period needs to be much, much larger. Now, you have a near-inifinte (1%) theoretical recharge start-stop cycle.

I do not know the precise optimum cycle points, but they should be much closer to 50% level begin charge, stop charge at 95% .
