I am using nx 8 and am wondering is there anyway to organize drafting sheets by the sheet number? Right now its by either numerical and alphabetical order. I would like to have the sheet attribute match the order in which they appear in the file.

I believe the sheets can be named 'out-of-order' as they relate to their creation order. If you want them named and sequenced identically, you need to do do it as you create them and keep the order.

Any 'list' of names will be sorted alphabetically/lexically. However, you can control the 'order' in which the system assumes the order to be when actually viewing a multi-page drawing and/or when using the 'Automatic Text' to add page numbers to Drawing Sheets. you can find these options, starting with NX 8.0, on the Edit Drawing Sheet dialog.

Unfortunately it seems it's about the same work to use the automatic text then it does to just change it manually.

In other CAD systems you can drag your sheets in the order that you want them in the 'list'. Their automatic text will update perfectly without any other changes.

In Ug it seems that if you have 8 sheets in your file and want add an additional sheet between pages 4 and 5 you would have to re-number the drawing sheet names and change a sheet number. I guess if you don't care what order they appear in, you would just change the sheet number of one, but then when it would be confusing for somebody else to look at and the printing would be out of order.

If this is correct, then I hope the sheet list gets revised in a later version of NX so that the automatic text for page numbers becomes useful.
